In Gear by Kareem Alahdab Photography0 Comments

Hi, this is Kareem Alahdab and today we’re gonna talk about the best places in Riyadh for photography equipment. I know a lot of people who purchased a camera from an electronics store. Usually, they end up paying more, and sometimes a lot more than what they could have paid had they gone to a specialized store! Follow me while we go through the best places in Riyadh for photography equipment. You’ll end up saving money and getting the best service possible.

Cam4Sell

Many people consider Cam4Sell to be the leading photography store in Riyadh. They offer some of the best prices worldwide. If you’re looking to purchase a camera or lens from abroad, don’t! You’ll probably find better prices at Cam4Sell and you’ll get the local warranty as well. In addition to great prices, their online store ships to different parts of Saudi Arabia for free if the total is above S.R. 250. They also ship to the GCC. The staff is extremely friendly and you get excellent customer service. As an added bonus, if your camera is purchased from Cam4Sell you can drop it off to have the sensor cleaned free of charge, you might think it’s a small thing but with the Riyadh weather, sensor cleaning is a must every now and then. They were also the only store I was able to find C-stands at. Cam4Sell is the authorized dealer for several premium brands. Below is a list of some of the brands you can find there:

  • Black Magic
  • Eizo
  • Panasonic
  • Rode
  • Canon
  • Nikon
  • Sony
  • Sigma
  • Samyang
  • Tamron
  • Lee Filters
  • Hensel
  • Rimelite
  • Savage
  • Velbon

Qomra

Working Hours:
Sun-Thu: 9:30AM – 10:30PM
Sat: 4PM – 10:30PM

Website

Located at the intersection of Olaya Road and Makkah Road, Qomra sells a wide range of photography and videography equipment. They have an online website where you can browse for products, place an order and receive your gear by mail. One of the things I really like about Qomra is the fact that they’re willing to order a product for you if it is out of stock as long as you pay them in advance. I personally used this service to order a Profoto D2 head which wasn’t available at the time, I paid the full amount in advance and received the light in less than 2 weeks. Another reason I like Qomra is because they are the authorized dealers of several high-end brands. They also give you many options to choose from. Here are some of the brands you can find at Qomra:

  • Hasselblad
  • Profoto
  • Zeiss
  • Fuji
  • Sony
  • Canon
  • DJI
  • Manfrotto
  • Dedolight
  • Godox

In my opinion, these two stores are the best in Riyadh. They are owned or partially owned by photographers. If you’re going to buy some photography gear, please do so at one of these stores as it will help support the photography community in Saudi Arabia. There was a time when buying camera equipment meant spending much higher than you should, but now we’ve reached a point where you can find most items at a reasonable or even better price than you would internationally.

Other Stores to Consider:

Muteb Al-Harthi – Having never interacted with this store personally I can’t say much about it. They do have an online store and carry a variety of products. I was also told they are one of the few places that you can sell your equipment to.

Akariya 2
– There are several smaller photography shops in Akariya 2 that might be worth checking out if you couldn’t find what you’re looking for elsewhere. I was actually able to find an Avenger D600 mini-boom arm at one of the stores at a reasonable price which I couldn’t find anywhere else. Just be prepared for higher prices on average and different quality of gear.
